While serving as a community board member for the Summit Avenue Residential Preservation Association (SARPA), concerns for pedestrian safety increased following a bicyclist fatality and a number of pedestrian injuries. We launched “Stop for Me” safety awareness campaign with the Saint Paul Police. The first of many "sting operations" to get motorists to yield to pedestrians on Summit Avenue resulted in results: 47 traffic stops, 25 citations ($180 per ticket) and 6 warnings and heightened visibility for pedestrians.
